Block

In Novos Hacking, you start a round by submitting a batch of Functions. However, various routines can disrupt (block) the functions you submitted. Blocked functions are more or less treated as if you didn't submit them at all (although they are still used up from your hand).

The following routines block your functions in your batch:

• Handcoded Shield (blocks Brute Strike) (+3 unsubtle*)
• Midgard Shield (blocks a Command or Offence function if low Code Finesse?) (+1 unsubtle*)
• Signal Filter (blocks various Offence or Command)

The following routines are automatically blocked when certain other conditions are met:

• Offboard Attack (no Hardening)
• Offboard Command (no Hardening)
• Offboard Scan (no Hardening)
• Midgard Protection (with Hound Mark) (+1 unsubtle*)

The following routines block functions in your hand:

• Electronic Countermeasures (with Static Jamming)
• Guardian (if no Hardening/Defense)

* The blocked function does not cost any unsubtle, but the blocking action does. This can result in a higher or lower unsubtle than if the function had gone through.
