Description | This book is pretty beaten up, charred and stained with blood, coffee, and less identifiable substances. In construction, it could be any student's or scientist's lab notebook, but was found in a lab hidden underneath Metroplex University. |

Uses
Gives different messages depending on certain effects / skills active. Getting a "Success" message will send the book the next message. The third message seems to be the last one.
1st Message (Failure):
This book is dense with strange notation. The whole thing is a haze of greek letters, superscripts, subscripts, and weird brackets.
1st Message (Success, with Quantum Mechanics):
This book is dense with strange notation, but you recognize most of the symbols from Quantum Mechanics. If they're being used the same way, they're trying to measure the wave functions of a system that's having energy sporadically added to it.
Something seems a bit off about it, but it's possible they're just using more advanced QM than you're familar with.
2nd Message (Failure):
There's definitely some sort of underlying pattern here, but you can't make heads or tails of it.
2nd Message (Success, after seeing the mysterious drone signature):
Some of these patterns are extremely similar to those in the drone code you've studied. In particular, the last test listed (labeled with a gamma) seems to be only half written in the notation you noticed earlier and half borrowing bits you recognize from the code. Curious.
(Adds "Replicate test gamma" option to the Broken Lab encounter)
3rd Message (Failure):
They seem to be trying to get certain harmonics in the system. It's similar, in principle, to harmonics in acoustics, but they're probably not trying to make music.
3rd Message (Success, with Emerald Gift or Hunt for the Gift active):
You remember some commentary in the Quantum Mechanics book about how harmonics in QM are similar, in principle, to those used in acoustics. That doesn't explain why the notebook includes instructions for recreating an Emerald Gift song.
(Adds "Play Emerald Gift" option to the Broken Lab encounter)
4th Message
There are several more experiments in the book, but you can't figure out what would make one more significant than the others.
