Choice Text and Results
Sure, a friendly game
(if you win)
You sit down for a friendly game of chess with the homeless man. He's good, you've got to admit. Maybe even better than you.
After a surprisingly long game, you manage to force him into checkmate.
(if you lose)

He manages to force you into checkmate, but you've learned a bit more about chess
(Without Chess skill:)
You don't know enough about chess to really learn anything in the dance of pieces. Keeping an eye on everything does seem to expand your mind, though.
You almost seem to remember chess being important to you a long time ago. Maybe there's something to this chess stuff after all.
You've earned 2 XP in Perception
Lay down a small bet
(Without Chess skill (?), if you lose)
You're soundly thrashed by the homeless man, but you do learn a few important lessons in self control. You manage to neither scream in rage nor lash out at him.
Well, five credits well spent… maybe?
You've earned 2 XP in Will
OR (If Raging effect active)
Stupid… game with its… moving pieces. You break his chessboard over your knee, scattering the pieces, then punch him a couple times in the face for good measure.
He slinks off into the shadows, leaving you to feel a bit better about yourself.
You've earned 2 XP in Strength
You've earned 2 XP in Will
(if you win)
You put five credits on the table. The homeless man smiles even more broadly, but this is just a cover for him focusing even more on the game.
Even with his head completely in the game, you still manage to defeat the homeless man. Perhaps you need to find harder chess challengers.
He frowns and hands over five credits.
You gained 5 credits!
(With Chess skill, if you lose:)

With his head completely in the game, this man is a vicious opponent. He checkmates your king, but you learn a lot in the process.
You've gotten better at chess.
