Encounter Conditions

Without invitation in the camp (otherwise, this is replaced by Relaxed Couriers).

Initial Text

Near the edge of the hideout, you find two Fang couriers sneaking around. They seem alert, eyes constantly scanning their surroundings, but they don't notice you. Perhaps you're not what they're watching for.

Summary of Choices

  1. Jump them - fight 2 Dockside Gangers
  2. Follow them - gain 3 XP Perception, or with 6 Perception: unlocks Security Hole next encounter
  3. Scare them - gain 2 XP Will
  4. Leave them - walk away

Choice Text and Results

Jump them

You jump the couriers. They stand in shock for a moment, then one blurts out "we weren't planning on doing anything, I swear!"

Once they figure out you're not here to question them, they respond to violence with violence.

Follow them

With ≤5 Perception:

You try to follow them, but they're moving fast and you eventually lose the trail. Drat.

You've earned 3 XP in Perception

With ≥6 Perception:

It sure seems like these guys would know how to slip in and out of the Fangs' hideout. You trail them, finding a good-sized gap in the gang's defenses.

You only have a little time, but you might just be able to slip further in without anyone noticing.

Scare them

You try out your best authority figure voice. "Hey, you there!"

The response is about what you'd hope for, with the gangers running in two opposite directions, concerned more with saving their own hide than guarding the base.
