Choice Text and Results

Give him a coin

You drop the coin in his cup. His dirty face breaks into a broad smile. "Bless you! Oh, bless you!"

(Lose 1 dusty coin)

Give him old coins

You drop the old coins in his cup. His dirty face breaks into a broad smile. "Bless you! Oh, bless you!"

Offer medical attention

Without first aid, or 1 First Aid (trauma reference):

You give him a once over and do your best, but all you seem to manage to do is embarrass him.

You've earned 2 XP in Perception

Or, with 2? First Aid (trauma reference + examination glasses?); or tested up to 7 first aid:

You give him a once over, cleaning some sores and doing your best to set his leg. His entire body is a mess and he'll probably never walk again, but he seems happy for the help despite his embarrassment.

You've earned 4 XP in Will

Talk to him

The beggar gives you a look and waves you away. He's got work to do.

Or, after giving him credits or helped him medically:

He gives you a tired smile, but seems grateful for someone to just talk to.

Given the chance to unburden himself, he tells you about how he used to have a farm up in the hills and how one day a great pit opened in the ground. A dragon rose from the pit, eating his livestock, burning his home, and killing the soldiers sent to drive it off.

Eventually he just gave up, moving into the "city" to make a living here. But the claw wound he'd taken while fleeing never fully healed, leaving him unable to get good work.

From his description, there probably isn't much left of his home, but the dragon's pit should still be waiting out there for a hero to challenge fate.
