Choice Text and Results
Offer a dance
You attempt to dance, but the apparition makes a gesture dismissing you. The space around you distorts and buckles as you find yourself amid some wandering executives.
Perhaps it was the dancing, but whatever happened definitely raises their suspicion.
You've gained 10 duration of Executive Alarm.
Or, with a dance effect:
You dance and dance as she watches with quiet detachment. "Very well, I'll let you pass."
Or, if you have impressed her, but without a dance effect:
You attempt to dance, but the woman frowns as she watches. It… apparently wasn't very good.
Or, if you have impressed her, and with a dance effect:
You dance and dance as she watches with quiet detachment. "Thank you for your offering."
You've earned 2 XP in Reflexes
Offer a song
You sing the first song that comes to mind, but the apparition doesn't seem impressed. After a few bars, the space around you twists and warps until you find yourself among some wandering executives.
Perhaps it was the singing, but whatever happened definitely raises their suspicion.
You've gained 10 duration of Executive Alarm.
Or, with music playing:
You sing along with your music, attracting enough of her attention to listen along, but she fades away without a word of praise or clap of applause.
Or, with Gaming Music playing, others?:
You sing along with your calming music. The apparition smiles as you finish and agrees "very well, you may pass."
Or, if you have impressed her, but without music playing:
You sing the first song that comes to mind, but the apparition doesn't seem impressed.
Or, if you have impressed her and have music playing:
You sing along with your music, attracting enough of her attention to listen along, but she fades away with only a polite nod.
You've earned 2 XP in Will
Or, if you have impressed her and have 'calming' music (Gaming Music, others?) playing:
You sing along with your calming music. The apparition smiles as you finish and nods. "Thank you for your offering."
You've earned 4 XP in Will
Offer violence
As you move to attack her, she frowns. "This place does not welcome you. Those who watch from above do not welcome you. I do not welcome you."
(Fight Midgard Apparition. If you win, unlock "think we've found the source of those readings" combat)
Or, if you have impressed her:
As you move to attack her, she frowns. "Those who watch from above would not wish us to fight."
(Fight Midgard Apparition. If you win, unlock "think we've found the source of those readings" combat)
Offer questions
She stares at you closely enough that you can see misty shapes moving behind her eyes: three children playing, a stack of cubes, and a pistol so simple it almost looks fake.
Shaking her head at what she's seen in return, she fades away.
Or, with Childish Sketch and/or Childish Shot in your deck?
She stares at you closely enough that you can see the misty shapes of three children playing behind her eyes. Withdrawing with a shocked expression across her normally impassive face, she gives you a jerky nod before disappearing.
Or, after shocking her with the above:
She glances in your direction, then away as though there's something upsetting lurking behind you. "You should leave, but those who watch from above have shown you enough favor… perhaps you deserve an answer."
"There have been others like you, beings that don't break easily, perhaps even they can't kill you." Her gaze flicks towards the ceiling. "But they can hurt you, I think. The others escaped to an old factory called B3."
"You might be able to escape there as well, as long as you don't look at the hounds or their kin. He doesn't wish to be Seen."
She smiles as though that explains everything and begins to fade away. "Now leave my sight… and that of the preening creatures that live within me. Perhaps you will be happier among those who share your fate."
Demand passage
First time?
As you begin to state your case, she interrupts you with a frown. "This place does not welcome you. Those who watch from above do not welcome you. I do not welcome you."
(Fight Midgard Apparition. If you win, unlock "think we've found the source of those readings" combat)
After killing her today??
The apparition hesitates for a moment in the face of your intimidation, then sighs. "I shall allow you to pass, but please harm this place no further."
Flee her presence
As hard as you run, you find yourself passing the same staring faces of executives and guards despite doing your best to run in a straight line. Soon even a crystalline shrieking like the baying of hounds joins the hunt.
Eventually, you escape from her trap, although perhaps you were let free.
You've gained 20 duration of HQ Alarm.
You've gained 20 duration of Executive Alarm.
Leave her be
She nods politely as you leave.
