I took 3 monday chips today, then when I was out of energy, got my Will up to 51 (82) with equipment and took *34* unformatted memory cores before the 35th gave me the headache.

A possible hypothesis is that your buffed Will counts as a numerical cap for the chips. A quality recording is worth 8 will, a standard recording (i.e. study chip) is worth 4 will, and an unformatted core is worth 2 will. When you exceed this, the next chip will give you a headache.

I was able to use 11 numbing chips, 3 study chips, and a berserk chip and still haven't gotten a headache, with my stats all above 40.
