Killed 5 enemies with ranged, killed one with melee, got Stomping Hut on that combat. Did a bunch of stuff among that though, so had 21 energy Dancing Hut left.

I wouldn't be surprised if melee was required, but I don't have more data on it.

I'm seeding the wiki with Kinak's hints from Podcastrophe 34:

"I feel like most of [this] has been figured out. Spoiler alert: there is not a Baba Yaga boss fight."

Hmm. Alright, I don't remember, but I will get a "watch" result first, then later try with tome+matsuo+FP, and again with mortar+matsuo+FP

Thanks for sticking with this. Have you tried watching the hut at all this run? I can't think what it would do, but Kinak likes to put unlocks in "useless" results.

Nothing even after putting all my techs in the deck (this includes 4 firebirds) [hut #3], upping fire power [hut #4], replacing tome with mortar (still with alldeck and fire power) [hut #5] … but those were all without channeling matsuo … so another tries?

Tome. As evidenced by 1) getting the mortar and pestle instead of pestle surprise instance(S) and 2) successfully summonning hounds, spider, burrowhorror and firebird in combats.

Just to clarify: when you did get into the hut, did you have the mortar and pestle equipped or the tome of binding? My suspicion is that you'd need the ToB, not the mortar and pestle.

I just did this with my one-ofe-each-tech deck, and got just mortar and pestle. Then I added matsuo's finale and upped my deck to all of each tech (4036 total, out of which 4 are firebird), ran out of etheric, ran out of dancing hut.
And I can't exactly equip the tome and mortar at the same time, so …

Penguipyro pointed out something interesting from the wikipedia article Al quotes in the first post here:

Ivan begs her to give him three horns and she does so. The first he blows softly, the second louder, and the third louder yet. This causes birds of all sorts to arrive and swarm the hut. One of the birds is the firebird, which tells him to hop on its back or Baba Yaga will eat him. He does so and the Baba Yaga rushes him and grabs the firebird by its tail. The firebird leaves with Ivan, leaving Baba Yaga behind with a fist full of firebird feathers.

It might be worth trying to climb into the Striding Hut with a tome of binding equipped and Call the Firebird in your deck. I will attempt to test this, but I think I will probably need to do a fair amount of statting up before I'm in a position to get an instance of the technique. Are any of the unreset among you in a position to test this? I'd be happy to loan out my hut figure if necessary.

I spent 15 turns with Matsuo active and no sign of Baba Yaga yet.

Also - I get the vague impression (and Crypto supports my data) that you can get the striding hut encounter once per dose of Eclipse taken - doesn't matter the strength of the dose.

Very limited data:
- 1 Eclipse (5 turns) - got it on turn 2
- 1 Eclipse Syringe (50 turns) - got it on turn ~15, nothing for the remaining ~50 turns.

So, what did we not test with this yet?
- getting large amount of etheric?
- resting (while etheric?)?
- resting - watching various TV programs
- channeling matsuo (while etheric?)?
- something with phoenix feathers?
- get beaten up with it
- unleashing the complete library of techniques with it, looking for interactions
- interaction with stuff made of bone (putting it in bone fencing)

Kinak may well come by his ideas about Baba Yaga directly from folklore, but as an old-school D&D player, when I think Baba Yaga I'm thinking mostly of information from a somewhat more contemporary source.

I spent a day's worth of energy (in run) and haven't found anything sinister or mysterious with this so far.

In the meantime, here are some facts:

Baba Yaga is a supernatural being (or one of a trio of sisters of the same name) who appears as a deformed and/or ferocious-looking woman.

Baba Yaga flies around in a mortar, wields a pestle and dwells deep in the forest in a hut usually described as standing on chicken legs.

Baba Yaga is a many-faceted figure, capable of inspiring researchers to see her as a Cloud, Moon, Death, Winter, Snake, Bird, Pelican or Earth Goddess, totemic matriarchal ancestress, female initiator, phallic mother, or archetypical image.

Baba Yaga is sometimes three sisters - "He journeyed onwards, straight ahead and finally came to a little hut; it stood in the open field, turning on chicken legs. He entered and found Baba Yaga the Bony-legged. "Fie, fie," she said, "the Russian smell was never heard of nor caught sight of here, but it has come by itself. Are you here of your own free will or by compulsion, my good youth?" "Largely of my own free will, and twice as much by compulsion! Do you know, Baba Yaga, where lies the thrice tenth kingdom?" "No, I do not," she said, and told him to go to her second sister; she might know. Ivan walks for some time before encountering a small hunt identical to the first. This Baba Yaga makes the same comments and asks the same question as this first, and Ivan asks the same question. This second Baba Yaga does not know either, but says that if she gets angry with him "and wants to devour you, take three horns from her and ask her permission to blow them; blow the first one softly, the second one louder, and third still louder." Ivan thanks her and continues on his journey. After walking for some time, Ivan eventually finds the chicken-legged hut of the youngest of the three sisters turning in an open field. This third and youngest of the Baba Yagas makes the same comment about "the Russian smell" before running to whet her teeth and consume Ivan. The firebird leaves with Ivan, leaving Baba Yaga behind with a fist full of firebird feathers."

Baba Yaga has fought Matsuo the demonslayer on TV.
