I have enjoyed spading the damage types in the past but seeing as I also have literally hundreds of other things to spade, I would not object. Not sure how the combat texts are stored exactly, but might require rewording a handful of techniques to make them less awkward:
You lash <opponent> with a live electrical cable, dealing 3 melee shocking damage.
Incidentally this might be a bug, but if a technique gets a bonus "vs. Melee", is it supposed to work against all melee damage attack or just ones where the default form of the technique is Melee? As Arkaim here explained a while ago:
For example, clashing blow. Blocks melee attacks if your melee power is greater than your opponent's. It, however, fails to block the melee damage foreign shark when it does Circles attack. Why? Because clashing blow can't recognize melee damage that is coming from an attack not explicitly stated as melee. Circles is an evasion move that only sometimes does melee damage.
(I do think it would make certain things a lot clearer, especially to new people, if damage was explicitly stated.)
Re: Plus4's question about sorting equipment by the bonuses they provide — I did make a greasemonkey script a long time ago that did this but not sure where it is now. But yeah, made a big list of all known items and bonuses and stored that in the script, and then any new items that get added it tried to parse the bonuses section on the item desc and store those. I'll see if I can't find/update it at some point here…
