Plenty still to confirm here, of course. So, I had the lens focused on the stars equipped, and was messing around at the slags gate. On my last turn of combat I did a 5 length chain that ended in Stellar Focus, transforming the lens into the lens focused on nothing and granting 50 energy of Fluid Focus. I'd guess that the 5 length chain is important, not sure how important the specific form of the lens at the time was.

You calmly toss a vial at the turret, engulfing it in flames that deal 12 fire damage and continue burning.
The turret unloads a chattering burst of automatic fire into you, dealing 2 ranged damage.

You watch the turret carefully and find an opening, shooting it for 31 ranged damage.

You slot a long clip and fire a stream of ammunition into the turret. It takes 27 ranged damage.

You take a shot at the turret's weakest-looking point for 23 ranged damage.

You focus on the stars, calling their strange energy down on the turret for 47 etheric damage.

The clinging mixture continues to burn the turret for 11 damage.

You've won the battle!

Poking around, it seems some of this guard's containment suit stood up to the beating you just doled out.

You found: heavy containment helmet

You found: ripped containment top

You step over his body into a blasted wasteland… one that looks more like the sight of a massive battle than any sort of accident. Huge craters pit the ground, while the twisted remains of factories and office buildings stand forgotten.

You gained 29 credits!

You found: needler rifle

You found: 2 sets of sealant patches

You found: shotgun rounds

You adjust your equipped gadget to lens focused on nothing.

You exalt in the realities swimming past your lens… glorious.

You've gained 50 duration of Fluid Focus.

You've earned 12 XP in Perception

You've earned 2 XP in Reflexes

You've earned 2 XP in Strength

You've earned 1 XP in Will

Edit: Took a while, but I was able to recreate this with the lens focused on minutiae. Took multiple attempts, then finally seemed to work when I had a 5 length chain, ending in Minute Focus, on the last turn of combat. I'm not sure that the chain ending in the focus tech is required, maybe it just has to be in there, but the 5 length and being on the round that ends the fight do seem to be required.

As a follow up… I managed to get Fluid Focus again today with a 5 chain ending in Minute Focus, after failing to do so once. The difference that jumps out to me between the first and second tries is that on the first try I hadn't yet transformed the lens into the lens focused on nothing or used Confused Focus yet today. Also, when I had success on the second try it was not on the last round of combat. I was running low on techs and still had two opponents left, so I did the 5 chain and then finished the remaining opponent off with a single tech, still got the Fluid Focus result.

Okay… This time I just got Fluid Focus after my first time today transforming the lens focused on minutiae to the lens focused on nothing, but it was only a 2 technique chain. So… no idea what the trigger is now, other than requiring the switch to the lens focused on nothing. Possibly there's some sort of invisible counter being filled up?

I had a lens focused on minutiae equipped. Round one I think I made a 5 chain. Round two is used Minute Focus and nothing else. Round three I made an ascending 4 chain and won the fight. My lens turned to a lens focused on nothing and gave me 50 energy of the effect.

Fluid Focus is very weird. Attempted many 5 chains that end or begin with one of the focus techniques with no luck. Got fluid focus on a combat whose largest chain was a 3 chain to unlock the Minutiae Focus. Then used Minutiae Focus by itself. Another solo technique. Then ended combat with a 2 chain.

Bonus isn't as amazing as I thought it would be. Looks like it's square root rounded up.
