OK, so, is it or is it not possible to meet the lost son (tentacled man encounter) after having the *glowing* bauble?
Because glowing bauble leads to the second fairy/ocean skill, while meeting him leads to the third eye skill … are those mutually exclusive rewards to the quest, or did I screw up by managing only one of them?

Unprotected, I got 6 once and then 5 damage the next time from the steam, with no fire defense (bonuses: 6 Etheric Power, 8 Melee Power, 2 Etheric Defense, -2 Perception, 3 Reflexes, -2 Strength, 1 Will).

Weird… I got 8-10 several times with 0 fire defense, as well as 0-1 with 8 fire defense (and 0 with 12). All but one of those times I had an 'air filter' (which has now become a slightly awkward term), but it would be very strange if that increased the damage.

I'd triple-check those defense values, but the logger database seems to be down.

Kinak said there was a rather large alert counter here and it's unlikely for us to trip it… it's certainly larger than pissing off Dr. Mira (thus getting the slags guard x2 encounter) then killing 30-40 combat encounters without a slags medical ID.

I suspect Kinak is cackling right now. "The FOOL! He did not realize it was FIFTY encounters until he unlocked the new super-awesome slags-based skill and very lucrative combats! MUAHAHAHA"
