I have no recollection of how to play, save for there are cards, and some NPCs can die. I'm not looking for anyone to hold my hand through a playthrough, but moreso looking for a good place to go if I wanted "start from scratch" info, or if I wanted to see what to do at my point of limbo. I don't even know where I am or where I left off in the game, to be honest. I'm also asking because between when I was playing and now, I'm sure a ton of things have changed.

Welcome back! You may want to try resetting your character's run and starting the quests from scratch — a lot has changed recently. (Harder to accidentally kill NPCs now too!) Check out the "quests" link on top and you can reset from there:

If you've been out for a while and completely don't remember what was going on, you can use this option to reset your character's progress and begin the game from a clean slate.

Any progress you have on quests currently will be lost, along with skills and techniques. Items and credits will be stored for you to retrieve when you finish the main quest line.

Just for clarity's sake: there's a contest involving Beta Resets which are a different type of reset that becomes available when completing the main quest. This just resets you.
