Aren't the slick third eye and third eye customer the same encounter? I was going to remove one except that they've got different credits mentioned when selling them a crate.

I think you may have deleted the wrong one, as I just got 100 credits for selling a crate to him. Also I haven't even met Hawk yet, so that's not how you unlock the encounter. Although I did spend quite a bit of time there when I was during the university quest and didn't see him (the third eye guy), but now that I've finished the slags quest and come back he appeared pretty much right away. So iunno.
Maybe we should entirely rethink how the drunk guy is encountered. I was in here for about 10 energy having an unsually disastrous attempt to get a Third Eye shirt, and soon got the 'round for my friends' encounter once, then found the drunkard. I beat up one drunk brawler, and apart from that just picked fights with third eye poseurs. I guess they really don't like the poseurs or something?

It looks like the third eye friendliness count is per day. I've been hanging out a lot in the Happy Hour lately trying to get the sugary Eclipse recipe, and I don't start getting the free drinks from Hawk noncombat until after I've been there a while buying drinks for folks.
Also, amusingly, I was able to get the pool shark quest to join the Third Eye, despite the fact that I'm already a member. This is probably just an artifact of my having not reset since before that change rolled, though.
Well judging by how long it took me to get the drunk guy and how quickly tekrunner did it, it looks like starting a brawl helps.
Well, he does mention he's seen you "throwing your weight around" when you buy him a drink, so maybe the encounter isn't based on friendliness, but rather on how well you got yourself noticed by the guy. Starting brawls and buying rounds would definitely get you noticed in a bar.
