Actually, I think I meant to put that under "Agree to help", not "Steal his stuff", but now I honestly can't remember, and it'll be a while before I have a chance to doublecheck. I don't suppose somebody else with a coin is about to take on that quest?
Well, looks like I found a use for the sailing outfit. With the sailing cap, sailing shirt and sailing pants (I checked, it definitely requires all three), the message for resting on the Ghost Ship changes to:
You curl up in a corner of the ship. Nothing seems intent on bothering you, so you get a pretty good rest.
You regain 30 hit points!
I tried it with and without the sailor's charm and it didn't seem to make a difference.
The hand used to stay, even after the Mask was killed. I asked Kinak if that could be changed and he said he would change it, so I added that comment. I didn't actually test if it was changed though.
I am pretty sure it was changed - spent quite a time (couple of days) there a while ago trying to farm hands (for the hands they drop) after defeating the shaman and got none.
Then I noticed that the page mentions a) a condition on them appearing and b) the shaman sending them at me when I run away from him.
So I just tried again next reset. That worked better.
Today, I got the message for resting with a sailor's suit, but I wasn't wearing a sailor suit.
"Ignoring the chests, you curl up and take a short nap. Somewhat to your surprise, nothing bothers you.
You feel a bit better and less afraid of the ship.
You regain 29 hit points!
You've earned 3 XP in Will"
