There's apparently a puzzle involved in stopping Saber from casting it on you, as it pretty much makes the fight unwinnable. Does anyone know how to make it not go off? I tried fighting him with the glasses from Shard, a third eye shirt, and a tome of binding for kicks, but none of that seemed to stop it.

There was a fairly recent change to this process, and I don't think anyone's yet worked out the new situation (before, you only got Crushed Perceptions if you tried to intimidate him without killing Shard). I somehow avoided it last time, but beats me if I know how. The message seemed to imply a Will test, but who knows?

Or maybe just a certain level of etheric defense?
