I've done Tunlock three times in a row now. No new message the third time.

Now I'm using Rbuff.

Nothing unusual the first 11 times. (erm, take with grain of salt, I may well have missed the message below for #11 if it did appear, as I wasn't paying enough attention.

12th-15th times, as I believe you've already seen, Wyrd,
"You haul on the puzzle with all your might. For a second before you black out, you think you can hear tendons ripping.

When you come too, you feel better rather than worse. Either way, you're pretty sure that was more difficult than last time."
(but still got 10 energy of buff)

After 15 uses, the option no longer appears! It appears that each unlock allows 5 additional uses of the buff, and you get a different message 'warning' you that it's going to run out soon starting on the 4th-to-last use.

Note that Wyrd has been spading the same thing after one use of Tunlock, and has found something interesting. Hopefully together we should soon get a good idea of what multi-unlocking really does.

Now I'm reading Tbuff.

"You look over the runes. They don't mean much to you, but… there's something deep in your mind that they call to.

You feel connected to an inner strength you weren't aware you had, like a memory of being a god among men."
(uses 1-5, buff as per usual)

"Maybe you're bored or maybe you actually can read them, but the runes seem played out somehow. If it were a book, you'd just turn the page, but no such luck."
(use 6, no effect, no puzzled out)

So the unlock/buff relationship is pretty firmly settled. The only question left is, since the tablet's limited use is narratively justified by the runes getting boring, will mutliple uses of Punlock actually unlock multiple Tbuffs, or will it just 'slide to a new page' that only has 5 turns of interesting stuff on it?

(This restriction would also balance out the fact that Tbuff does not require unlocking at the start)

Read the tablet and got the same "the runes seem played out somehow"

(wish I could just remember to use it every 10 turns…)

my new hypothesis is that Punlock switches between two forms of the tablet, and each form has 5 uses of Tbuff (and perhaps you can 'recharge' the other when you use up one). I really can't think of any other method that actually has Punlock DO something.

so, let's see how this goes. Punlock once.

Reading the tablet still doesn't work (no buff, no puzzled out).

2 Tunlock (gears unwinding msg) for Rbuff got me 9 uses (I'm quite sure of that, though error is not impossible and actually quite likely as 10 would seem far more probable a number) of Rbuff before I no longer got the option to pull the segments apart. At the seventh use of Rbuff I got the message that it seemed more difficult than before.

I'll go test another unlock and buff combo.

There was some weirdness in the Punlock, give it another try. It /is/ different from the others, though. Perhaps it'll be obvious why eventually *shifty eyes*

So looks like there was a problem, let's try it again. There does seem to be more to find out here - has anyone tried reading the tablet while under the effects of Puzzle Sight or Vision or whatever its called (the one from eyedrop dust)?

Read tablet x3: runic puzzle. that's more like it.

I'm honestly more interested in the eyedrop dust + reading tablet than finding out whether 5 uses will deplete this, so I'm going to move on to that tomorrow.
