DAY 2
26 HP, 32 Energy, 14 Hunger, 10 Body, 499 credits
STATS AT DAWN: 5(8) 4(7) 3(6) 4(7)
FOOD EATEN: 2 vegetarian rolls, 8 truffles
DRUGS CONSUMED: 4 ritzy soda bottles, 2 warm lattes, 2 Omnitech trauma bandages
(Note that these were consumed over the course of the day, not at the start)
(Hear me out on the bandage. In the damaged buildings, 2 body left, only energy I could get would be cup of Joe. Omnitech saves me the same # of turns as the cuppa without depleting my buffs. A legitimate use of bandages at last!)
Abandoned Building
Fight insane bum x3
Fight Third Eye ganger x5 (…no shirt. As I recall, you usually get a shirt very quickly from the posurs in the happy hour. I'm thinking they have a higher drop rate there.)
rested x1 (quick trip to Docks nets 1 will, pep pill, bandage; picked up luxury food while I was there)
(SKIPPED guard replacement x4) (seriously? Do shirts drop from these guys AT ALL?!?)
on time for once, finally unlocked the pyramid buff on the puzzle. 20 turns and I can start using it. Contemplating unlocking an additional 5 buffs first, but I think I'd rather have them less but sooner
used dirty old rags x2
Metro to U
The Happy Hour
get luxury food
Okay, super frustrated about the shirt drop rates in the abandoned building. Good thing to know, I guess, unless I'm just super unlucky. Time to try the happy hour
spend 5 creds on Metros light to get into bar
Rest x1 - pep pill, 2 bandages
TURN 63 (I think): Fight Third Eye poseur x1 (get shirt. That worked, I guess)
turned puzzle into pyramid form and equipped in place of electrical kit - on time again!
Metro to southside
Abandoned Building
Fight insane bum x2 (could have been skipped had I equipped the shirt)
Fight Third eye ganger x1 (same)
Beaten up by Third eye ganger x1 (same
Rest x1 (in docks… same. at least I got Practiced Shot(3))
(SKIPPED: replacement x1… remember to EQUIP the god damned SHIRT, you IDIOT. Speedrunning frustrates me >.<)
TURN 69 - replaced guards
TURN 70 - lured guard away and killed him.
Rest x1 - (too lazy to metro to hideout, and have paranoid idea about having to start the abandoned building again (not true, I'm sure, but still))
Fight insane bum x1
TURN 73 - CHAARGE! damn it… killed Shard first round, but drew so badly I could only "single shot" for 3 rounds until the guard shot me and David. :/
equipped Third eye shirt in place of light armored vest
report to Lo guiltily
Metro to U
Boiler Room
Rest x1 (1 XP Reflexes, healing from Shard fight)
(NO ENERGY: blast in with dynamite x1 (I wonder if the message about 'heard throughout the building' implies anything. Also, glad to see this doesn't cost any energy))
Fight Third Eye ganger x1 (it doesn't matter any more, but… no shirt.)
TURN 76: silent door > open desk -> asylum journal
TURN 77: whispering door (locked) (so I can use the journal to get the key)
TURN 78: use asylum journal (this is turning out much less violent than usual. that's a good thing, but I am wasting puzzle's gaze turns)
Fought Third Eye Sorcerer to draw x1 (ask and ye shall receive what ye did not want… )
Rest x1 (no effect inside asylum)
Fought Third Eye Sorcerer x2
Fought Third Eye ganger x2 (I'm at 6 hp by now, but I'm going the fatalist route… a.k.a. the 'fatal route' for Dr. Amundsen :()
TURN 85: whispering door … sigh, should have been silent door
Rest x1 (no effect)
Fight Third eye ganger x1
Fight Third eye sorcerer x1
TURN 89: silent door & under the desk & asylum key. That was stupidly risky doing that with 4 hp
Rest x1 (no effect - note the frequency of resting here. The difficulty here alone prevents this route from being anywhere near as quick as befriending Hawk)
Fight sorcerer x1
Fight ganger x2 (I appear to have got one additional shirt at some point)
TURN 94: suicide 8hp rush at Saber, unsurprisingly gain crushed perceptions with 6(9) will and get killed first round. ah, the sweet release of death is so comforting, don't you agree Dr. Amundsen?
get first Puzzle's Gaze buff before I enter, on time an' everything; it runs out just before the Saber fight, but I'm saving it for elsewhere
equip light armored vest instead of Third Eye shirt, since I'm not doing melee much; realize that I could have got a giant paper mache head by now if I hadn't made the paper mask. There are very few hats in the early game…
report back to Lo, he gives me a quest that contains no known way of causing the death of his friend. Gee, I wonder why he did that?
Metro to Outside the Slags
Luxury Food - no veg rolls
Midgard Biotech
Rest x1 (boring meds. Oh my goodness, I lost 1 turn of Highbrow, I am so unoptimal :P)
Try some lockers unsuccesfully x1 - I realized my mistake a milisecond after clicking >.<
Fight drone hound x1 (no hp lost, oh yeah)
Pick pockets x1 - get locker key AND Slags cheatsheets, awesome (and pep pill). That happened last run too, I assume it's not an update I missed though?
Run away from guard x1 (don't want Red Alert
Opened locker x1, got knit cap and gas mask as well as usual scrubs outfit
equip scrubs top instead of light armored vest, srubs bottoms instead of smelly old pants, knit cap instead of paper mask
(Disguised)
meet Boris, change subject x1 (to gain access to testing lab)
(SKIPPED: empty breakroom x1)
TURN 102ish: get Slags medical ID
equip ID in place of mysterious puzzle pyramid
walk through gate
As I suspected, I'm 333 creds short of buying the full containment suit. The abandoned building cost me 300, but taking the long way round probably net me a few extra creds. If I'd gone here more directly I may have been able to scrape together the creds in a short while, but it's all quite iffy. Anyway, on to procuring the suit by other means. This is probably my least favorite part of the run - containment suit pants take freaking forever to show up. I can't even trade Eclipse to the scientist because I don't know Dr. T. (although I suspect that always gives helmet and top, the most common parts). Time to grit my teeth, ask the audience whether they know the easiest way to do this, and step into the fray. Okay, not fray, I'm in disguise cause I'm a sissy and don't think the extra resting/non-guard encounters would let me get a suit faster through violence.
Midgard Laboratory
swipe my way in
big locker x2 - containment suit top, containment suit pants (and crap I won't use)
bored guard x1 - bought suit top for 200 creds. A dozen runs and every time I've talked to him he's given me a helmet. Oh, probabiity. Oh, wiki entry no one bothered to edit. Sigh.
(SKIPPED bored guard x3 - he only gives helmet for 200 cred, and I've never got the pants before the helmet. Famous last words, of course… Yep, I just got the top and pants but no helmet. For third skip, see below)
(SKIPPED chatting x2 - scientists don't give you anything without Dr. T. Could be wrong, I suppose, but I'm not going to test it in a 'speed' run)
(SKIPPED operation x1 - nothing to do here)
I just realized something. I've never been in this situation before (missing a helmet), which surprises me now that I know pants are fairly accessible. Anyway, I can rip off the wounded guard's helmet in the damaged buildings, I think he always shows up (or else I turn around, buy hey). I won't get the etheric protection from the helmet, but I'll do all right.
Also, I'm making better time than I expected from the long route. I have a very intriguing thought, in fact… a day 2 'long route' run is definitely doable. Consider the number of mistakes I made, and that I was unlucky with veg rolls… definitely doable.
Damaged Buildings Floor One
equip containment suit top and pants, and mysterious puzzle pyramid
Fight spider drone x1 (I used to run away from these, but I think you need to defeat people to get through the floor? pure speculation)
Fight writhing mass x3
Fight drone hound to draw x1 (rather poor hands)
Rest x6 (goddamn slags poisoning. this is why a helmet would be useful, now that I think about it. Also, call the swarm. whee. Finally on the fifth rest I tried equipping my gas mask and it worked. I SMART)
Lose to horrific spider x1 (seriously, goddamn slags poisoning)
Flee horrific spider x2
Fight twisted hound x1
Fight writhing mass to draw x1 (note to self: need containment suit before damaged buildings)
Fight twisted hound to draw x1 (srsly d00d)
TURN 123: go to third floor. This atrocious first floor makes up for the quick lab, I guess.
equip Midgard cap instead of knit cap
use Puzzle's Gaze at some point on first floor
Whoa. anyone tried using etheric techniques under slags poisoning? I suspect it doesn't work, but hey… not something to try in a speed run, though
Damaged Buildings Floor 3
spinning hallway x1 (damn, no friends, containment suit slowing me down horribly. withering mass option chosen)
crates, find away around x2 (14 perception yay buffs!)
TURN 127: go to fourth floor That's more like it.
Damaged Buildings Floor 4
Puzzle's Gaze
Fight twisted hound x1
Fight waterlogged corpse x1
I'm getting kind of psyched that a day 2 long-route run is within my reach. I'm going to start skipping fights, I don't need any drops or XP at this point, and I don't want to have to rest
run away x2
on second thoughts, that 'floor progression' idea scares me. Scratch what I just said!
TURN 132: Go to fifth floor. Hm… I'm going to try getting the helmet back at the lab after I find Hel. I don't want to turn back now. Also, floor progression disproved perhaps?
Damaged Buildings Floor 5
okay, I have no body left to do the high road trick. Wasn't thinking ahead there… I'm going to try to get slags poisoning
Rest x1 (equipped midgard cap first, so I'm now poisoned, huzzah)
Fight flying eye x1
TURN 135: high road —-> defeat 2 flying eyes. YES!
TURN 136: HEL YEAH! AND NO THAT'S NOT A TYPO!
go to 6th floor, get Hel as contact, promise her containment suit
Okay, this is awesomer than I ever expected. I've got 16 energy left to get a helmet from the lab, which should be easily doable.
Midgard Laboratory
equip doctor disguise, swipe way in
Avoid the crazy people x1 (residual slags poisoning gone now)
buy from guard x1 (just top)
big locker x1 (just top)
buy from guard x1 (HELMET!!!!!!!)
(SKIPPED chatting x2, observation room x1)
give suit to Hel, leave Slags, complete first 2 day run :)
7 hp, 12 energy, 0 hunger, 0 body
(for corrected statistics scroll past massive text fortress)
Well, that just goes to show that you should never pay attention to my griping (I nearly saved my turns until tomorrow early on in day 2). I guess the 'long way round' (which isn't such a huge detour now that the pool shark is involved, anyway) isn't as daunting now that we have luxury food. Three cheers to the Hound smugglers and the man who introduced them, I say!
