I was wondering how the prototype coat works in multi-opponent fights for giving turns of the effect (normally you get x turns of the effect for x damage blocked). The defense is non-directional evasion (ie. normal, blocks everyone), but it looks like it actually just uses the first (left-most) opponent that uses an attack that round:
The turret unloads a chattering burst of automatic fire into you, dealing 5 ranged damage, but you catch the worst of the attack in your billowing coat, avoiding all of the damage.
The guard fires a short burst into you, dealing 2 ranged damage, but you catch the worst of the attack in your billowing coat, avoiding all of the damage.
The turret unloads a chattering burst of automatic fire into you, dealing 1 ranged damage, but you catch the worst of the attack in your billowing coat, avoiding all of the damage.
(Gave 5 turns of Whirling Coat)
The effect is applied immediately, so it applies even to other enemies attacking during that same pass.
(I was very confused for a while about how one wall turret dealt 5 damage and one turret dealt 1 damage, which shouldn't be possible under normal circumstances. Doesn't matter which opponent you are targeting.)
Doesn't matter if another enemy deals more damage later that pass, which makes sense since the effect is presumably already applied:
The turret unloads a chattering burst of automatic fire into you, dealing 1 ranged damage, but you catch the worst of the attack in your billowing coat, avoiding all of the damage.
The guard arcs bullets high above and into you for 1 ranged damage, but you catch the worst of the attack in your billowing coat, avoiding all of the damage.
The turret unloads a chattering burst of automatic fire into you, dealing 2 ranged damage, but you catch the worst of the attack in your billowing coat, avoiding all of the damage.
(Gave 1 turn of Whirling Coat)
