I've had this thought from time to time myself. This page sorta made sense back before the techniques page was sorted by chain value, but it makes no sense now. I'd be tempted just to nuke the entire page, even if that would require fixing some broken links on the technique pages where "chain" links here. In fact, I might dust off my rarely-used moderator hat and OFFICIALLY PROPOSE THIS PAGE FOR DELETION. (Impressive, eh?) I'll give people some time to weigh in, but if nobody intervenes to save the page after a decent interval, I'd vote that it be sent off to join the choir invisible.

EDIT: Thinking some more about it, your proposal is probably better, since it probably is worth having a page that explains the chain mechanic.
