vigils at the quad: met the sorceror's group without etheric effect; can't seem to meet up with the 4 midgard security guards, is that only available during the protest, too?

This time I only had a cheap pistol to make it last longer so:
53 HP, Power, 6 Etheric Power, 6 Ranged Power, 2 Etheric Defense, 2 Melee Defense, 2 Ranged Defense, 8 Reactive Defense
And Argeth said he had 7 reactive defense, ranged power 12/16 unopposed
w/ 12 atk power
Focused burst does (20)-(20)x2 = 20-40 normally
Focused burst does (18-reactive)-(18-reactive)x2 = 18-36 with my 2 ranged armor, ignoring reactive
Did 12
no reactive average = 27.
56% damage reduction, 15 absorbed damage
if reactive was straight ranged armor: expected = 15
w/ 16 atk power
Judgement does (23)-(23)x2 = 23-46 normally
Judgement does (21-reactive)-(21-reactive)x2 = 21-42 with my 2 ranged armor, ignoring reactive
did 14
no reactive average = 31.5
56% damage reduction, 17.5 absorbed damage
if reactive was straight ranged armor: expected = 19.5
w/ 16 atk power
Stream of needles does (24)-(24)x2 = 24-48 normally
Stream of needles does (22-reactive)-(24-reactive)x2 = 22-44 with my 2 ranged armor, ignoring reactive
did 11
no reactive average = 33
77% damage reduction, 22 absorbed damage
if reactive was straight ranged armor: expected = 21
I was just looking at Argeth's three ranged attacks against me in the last round, since those were the only ones I had full data for. Hopefully that math was right. If so, then to summarize
8 points of reactive armor gave me between 56 and 77% damage reduction and between 15 and 22 absorbed damage per attack
8 points of reactive armor seems better than 8 points of ranged armor, even against ranged attacks.
With the caveat that since there are only three data points, this could be seriously skewed if Argeth just rolled badly on his attacks.
Still, reactive looks awesome. Especially if it protects against melee, fire and stealth(?) as well.
I'm also assuming Argeth has more than 24 reflexes…
When fighting other players, you will fight copies of them that use techniques from their current deck to fight against you
Either the new messaging info is buggy, or this is wrong. I just defended DerMagus, followed by XKiv. Both at the waterfront. I used my melee deck against DerMagus then my ranged deck against XKiv. (Despite really not having the outfit for the latter!)
I think that info is wrong. IIRC Kinak said on one of the podcasts that it saves an avatar's deck at the time the avatar is saved, so your current deck doesn't matter. It may be that the decks are not associated with the particular avatar that left them, though, so that a deck won't necessarily get used by an avatar with the appropriate gear. And/or the blow-by-blow may be buggy.
This was a switch of decks without having changed avatars. And I definitely was using my current outfit for both, judging my the small damage I was doing to XKiv.
It seems to have stablised into a single deck now though. I'd switched decks the night before, which may have been what caused it to use both.
