My understanding of the method of acquiring the Silver Eclipse is more complicated:

1) must have acquired and read the thank-you note in the VIP lounge
2) encounter welcome to the grand experiment
3) witness the frat girl
4) fiery transformation
5) acquire reward

A few notes: I had killed the fiery girl BEFORE I got the note, but I did not get the silver eclipse until after I acquired and read the note. Since the girl gives you several options, including bow, castor, and kill, I'd wager that there are three rewards (at least), one for each possible choice that you make.

Unfortunately, I misclicked, and I lost the text for the thank-you-for-your-help adventure, but I do know that it is different from the welcome-to-the-grand-experiment, and that you only acquire the silver eclipse after you interact with the transformed girl.

This, of course, needs verification.

I spent nearly all my turns today at the party, without getting any silver eclipse. Then I used my trick or treat note, and got the welcome to the experiment encounter the very next turn. So I did it more in this order and didn't get anything:

3) witness the frat girl
4) fiery transformation
1) must have acquired and read the thank-you note in the VIP lounge
2) encounter welcome to the grand experiment
5) ??

1. Killed Avatar of Flame woman.
2. Perma-killed werewolf.
3. Got the note.
4. Equipped some fire defense to try to perma-kill the vampiress (didn't encounter it, got Silver Eclipse almost right away. I killed it once before, without fire.)

The strange girl from the VIP Room glides her way across the room towards you. She smiles kindly, but it's impossible to read her eyes.

"Thank you. There are not a lot of people that would help out like that. I suppose you can't blame them, can you?"

"Oh! That reminds me! I got you an early Christmas present. Merry Christmas!" She hands you a tablet that looks exactly like any other Eclipse, but made of cold silver. "Good luck!"

When you glance back up towards her, she's gone.

I imagine this might effect the Christmas event.

edit: I was etheric when I got the encounter. I bought skeletons prior to the party.

It seems, then that there may be a rough checklist of requirements to getting the Silver Eclipse, which are doable in any order:

1) Encounter Grand Experiment in the VIP lounge and get the note
2) Read the note
3) Perma-kill werewolf with silver(?) I am unsure as to whether this is a precondition.
4) Do something to the flame avatar (not sure what happens if you Kneel or give Castor Capsule)

5) Receive Silver Eclipse (or possibly other item?)

I was not etheric when I got the Silver Eclipse, and I didn't obtain or read the note until after the flame woman was dead.

Er, the Grand Experiment occurs at the party itself. The note was a different encounter during the setup, in the VIP lounge.

Anyway, I bowed to the Herald, did the rest, and received no silver eclipse.

I was able to encounter the girl in the VIP lounge on the day of the party.

I'm guessing then, the order of encounter is: Girl in the VIP lounge —> grand experiment —> silver eclipse

I did not encounter the original Grand Experiment at all, since I killed the Herald of Fire before going to the VIP lounge to get/read the note. I doubt the werewolf was related to this.
