Probably related to using Inject Code before Blackthorn.

Usually I don't get more then 4 Memory + 1 Hardening with this tool, would have expected more…

Any other undocumented features?

What's the precise bonus for using this tool after Inject Code or Corrupt Datastream? Does it have to follow one of those tools immediately to get the bonus, or can there be intervening tools?

Is this the only undocumented feature?

EDIT: Got the blossoming message in a fight where I used both Inject Code and Corrupt Datastream, but there were intervening tools.

You attempt to inject some code into Password Lock, dealing 2 Hardening damage.
Password Lock raises a firewall to protect against your attack.

You call a shield program and let it move to defend you.

You insert bad data into Password Lock's datastream, dealing 1 Processor damage and 1 Hardening damage.

You weave a barrier out of strange code, interlocking non-standard characters, and invalid network specifications.

Your Blackthorn code blossoms inside Password Lock, dealing 8 Memory damage.

It looks like the "blossoms" doesn't do any more damage (with or without the extra message, it always does 4-8 damage). Could increase the "piercing" amount though?

EDIT: Though I'm not sure how piercing works: I've seen the non-blossom version of this attack do 7 "piercing" memory damage, and 1 hardening, and there's still hardening left afterwards so the seven damage was definitely from the piecing. I don't really know how it could get much better than that?

My experience with using blackthorn and rapid testing (usually in the same battle) is that rapid testing pierces more. Sometimes the blackthorn doesn't pierce at all, so I would disagree that both those tools have the same (2) piercing.
