Using spore cloud against it:

You rain spores down on the scout. The scout doesn't seem to mind.

trait:inbuilt air-filter

Using gnarled claw:

You claw at the scout, but can't sink in to any vitals, dealing 9 damage.

trait:soft & spongy?

Using inject venom:

You inject venom into the scout, but it doesn't seem to do much.

trait:poison immune

It's possible that the mushroom scout is simply immune to mushroom spores, and not to all airborne attacks. Then again, it probably doesn't have lungs, so I'd buy it either way. Check with gas grenade to be sure.

Huh, I saw the "You claw at the scout, but can't sink in to any vitals, dealing 9 damage." message in a log just this afternoon and was going to make a post about it because I couldn't remember what technique it came from and seemed to be unspaded, but you beat me to it, thanks!

(EDIT: though that was from a snowman - both the fresh and fanged varieties. I'm assuming all of them would follow suit.)

Seems to have two different Spear messages:

The scout spears you for 7 damage

The scout throws a spear at you, dealing 10 damage.

Eh, hp discrepancy, I oneshotted one of these with 47 damage.

Are you guys sure this mushdude has as much as 56-61 hp? My log is telling me I finished one off after dealing only 44 damage.

You wait for the perfect moment before striking out at the scout while its guard is down, dealing 26 damage.
The scout throws a spear at you, dealing 10 damage.

You punch the scout, throwing the whole weight of your body behind it and dealing 18 damage.

Looks like throw spear must be either stealth or etheric.

Looks like Throw Spear is probably stealth:

You raise your scaled shield to block.
