Ricket found this, but he doesn't remember how. I'd imagine it's for fighting an enemy who uses stealth techniques. It's certainly not PvP-related, since Ricket is all reset-y.

I'd bet a lot of credits that it also crafts with a black silver ingot to make something uber-stealthy (probably +5 stealth power), but I wasn't able to test that. Ricket was kind enough to lend my his one piece of cloth, but after unexpectedly stumbling on the spiked cloth I didn't want to risk salvaging it and only winding up with a piece of stone spider chitin.

Alright, so, gonna just fill in some little extra information.

1. My deck is an evasion/ranged deck: Dive For Cover, Cinematic Dodge, Single Shot and Explosive Shot.
2. Zones I hit in a run are in order, Southside Park (before quest), Waterfront (before quest), Sewer Hideout, The Quad (during protest), Abandoned Building, Underground Asylum, Midgard Biotech, Midgard Laboratory, and Damaged Buildings.
3. I use some Eclipse for a couple turns at a few points in my run (Hideout, Underground Asylum and Damaged Buildings).

Thanks for the info, Ricket. I just got a black cloth scrap off of a Midgard scientist. I was also using a stealth deck, though, so I'll play around more with other enemy types. Maybe it could drop if either you OR the opponent is using stealth…

I got one (after loooads of tough cloth) from mad scientists using a deck with cinematic dodge, fire and ranged attacks.

You dive and tumble like an action hero.
The turret fires a short burst into you, dealing 2 damage, but you tumble out of the way, avoiding all of the damage.
The scientist grabs a syringe and injects you with some clear fluid. It only pinches a little, but a tingling feeling spreads from the injection.
The scientist dives for cover.
The turret fires a short burst into you, dealing 1 damage, but you tumble out of the way, avoiding all of the damage.

You throw the NitroX into the midst of your opponents. It engulfs them in a ball of flame, dealing 21 damage.
The turret withdraws behind its protective shielding.
The scientist splashes acid on you. It burns terribly and you take 5 damage.

You lob a frag grenade into the midst of your enemies. It explodes, peppering the area with shards of metal, and deals 21 damage.

I finally got a black cloth scrap to drop off of an opponent other than a Midgard Scientist, in this case Midgard Security. It was the combat encounter in the Midgard Warehouse where you fight three at once. Maybe this only drops from battles with 3+ opponents?

OK, got one to drop from an encounter with only two Midgard Security. That still suggests multiple opponents may be required, unless somebody comes forward with news of having gotten one off of a fight with only a single opponent. It also seems to be an incredibly rare drop. I've gotten exactly two of these to drop in several solid days of nothing but adventuring in the Midgard Warehouse. Maybe there's some trigger I'm not hitting, or maybe it's just really hard to get.

Just got one to drop off of a single Roaring Drunk. So that rules out the multiple opponents hypothesis, and suggests that Kidney Punch does count as stealth, and that these are just an extremely rare drop.
