I believe Kinak mentioned that there's still stuff to be discovered concerning this item, so if anyone has any thoughts as to what to try, post 'em here.

Feeding it a first aid kit still turns it into an egg, so there's nothing special for usable or healing gadgets.

There's an underlying mechanic with the hungry ooze that hasn't been found, along with a fair amount of its content. And how the underlying mechanic you don't know about impacts the content that you know exists.

I found something interesting when I fed a computer to my hungry ooze. Not sure what it means yet, but if anyone else got this message, please share.

"You feed your expanded PDA to the ooze. It slides over the expanded PDA, dissolving it.

The ooze moves around, stretching into a variety of bizarre configurations before settling into its new shape.

You found: hungry ooze egg"

Fed it an Omnitech learntop and a functioning PDA (with a trenchcoat in between), same old message. So that's not the (only?) trigger.

can't get that message.

But it's interesting to note that Ooze Symbiosis doesn't go away when you remove the pants. Considering you can only have 1 or 2 energy at any time, I'm thinking it's possible you need to get the effect, feed the ooze, equip it in another form, fulfill some condition to get another effect, etc.

It's worth a shot anyway, but there's no hint about which item to turn into next… I tried turning it into a cloak (stealth item), but didn't get any effect despite a pretty epic round 1 (evaded all damage, 1-shotted a trash golem with a stealth technique ; second round I took 2 damage and 1-shotted the other with a stealth technique).

KNOWN HIDDEN STUFF

So, summing up our pitiful results:

Pants - evade all damage for one round - Ooze Symbiosis (2 energy)
Pants - evade ? - O.S. (1 energy)
Weapon - attack with symbiosis?? - Toxic Lash

"experimental chemicals" - experimental chemistry with this equipped, under fae sight, no result (a few powerful acids, a gilt truffle, a liquified eclipse)
"putting something that can eat metal on your head" - slotting matsuo finales until I got a chip headache didn't get anything

nothing for one-shotting opponents with stealth techniques, not even with ooze symbiosis active

Crypto was talking in chat that you might not need Ooze Symbiosis for Toxic Lash, and some quick testing of his only gave 1 energy of Ooze Symbiosis when dodged. Not sure why I was getting 2 energy. (1 after combat)

no luck trying hungry ooze + containment helmet + containment suit top + containment suit bottom in that order (and equipping each one in between for good measure)

it slowly flows 'as you watch" - no change if wearing a blindshot visor. :P

maybe some interaction between wearing the items while eating or something? or a shaman's brew / ashes of memory type thing, since it 'remembers' what it ate? can't test today.

It occurs to me that when I had fed the ooze stuff, I used cheapo examples of the appropriate type, e.g. a filthy pistol when I gave it a weapon, smelly old pants when I gave it pants, etc. Maybe it would do something different when fed a higher-power item? I have a surplus of hunting spears that I could try out when I retrieve my items. Perhaps Arkaim could borrow somebody's and feed it all of his hard-to-get and/or irreplaceable items, for spading and all. :)

I've tried a few things before - forgot to mention above that I fed it old fairy tales and an Eclipse sapphire to no effect. Yeesh, I wonder how to get that message out of it!
