With ocean sight, and writhing flesh, instead of the usual writhing flesh message, I got a message saying
"Your wounds knit over with thousands of tiny, staring eyes."

I'm guessing this is because of my pulsating eye I had equipped. Equipping a disgusting slug doesn't seem to do anything else, despite also being a spawn of nightmare fuel. I also only got it against the subway madman, but I didn't get enough time for a thorough test.

That's awesome. I wonder if a parasitic eye works as well. Do you get any neat effect from that (seems like it should do more than just heal you)?

seemed to heal the normal ~4 hp. It also stacked with normal healing(meaning that I also healed normally that round)

Huh, got 6 hp recovered(at 11/54 HP) and got the eye message without the eye equipped.

This time I had Equipped Items
Hat: silk top hat
Weapon: twisting silver blade
Offhand: Eclipse sapphire
Shirt: stained bandages
Pants: black stone pants
Gadget: personal focus

and just ocean sight and writhing flesh running.

I then de-equipped everything except for an antique needler, and STILL got the eye message.
(I also had practiced shot, but whatever)

So I guess it's just ocean sight, maybe?

EDIT: Nope. I castor'd my sight away, and still get the message while sober. Huh. I have no idea.

If it wasn't triggered by equipments or effects, other than writhing flesh, could it be triggered by a skill, maybe Born of Sorrow? You only get it when fighting the madman, and he seem to appear only as a result of a choice adventure, was it triggered every time you fought him, or just sometimes, or that's not how Born of Sorrow works?

Sorry I forgot to clarify that it triggers everywhere, and not just in the subway. So I'm guessing it's based on some skill or other, but I have no idea what or why. I guess born of sorrow might sort of make sense since the icon is some eyes…

I just got the "Your wounds knit over with thousands of tiny, staring eyes." message, after a vigilante justice fight with Officer Stone. I was pretty badly wounded — 22/64 before healing — and healed 11 HP (with 2 First Aid, although the eyes message was on a separate line from the "you patch yourself up" text, so it may not matter). No special eye- or Etheric-related equipment on at all.
My active effects:

Writhing Flesh (my last energy of it expired as I got the message)
Puzzled Out 1
Ocean Song 10
Lotus Map 21
Ocean Sight 47

Just got from a PvP fight:

Got this slightly different message. I ate a sewer mutant with ghoultouched to acquire the effect, that might have something to do with it.

"Your body twists, wounds healing as your limbs become longer and more nimble."

This message appears with and without the treated cell culture.

EDIT: Got the message again with no other effects active, no equipment, and the same obtain method (eating a mutant). So it's either from that method or one of the skills is interacting with it.

EDIT 2: Got the message yet again, this time using a filmy bandage to get Writhing Flesh. So…huh. One of those skills is interacting.
