You call out, invoking the twisted hounds that haunt the ether. The hound appears as a spectral echo and tears into the ghoul for 21 damage.
The ghoul loops a length of chain around you and closes it for 10 damage.

You line up a powerful strike, crushing the ghoul for 23 damage.
The ghoul latches onto you and tears a chunk out of you with his teeth, dealing 2 damage.

the second one is definitely ghoul bite so the first one is either 0 or 2 chain tech

You line up a powerful strike, crushing the ghoul for 21 damage.
The ghoul extends one hand and a chain of shadowy energy whips from it and rends into you for 15 damage.

You punch the ghoul, throwing the whole weight of your body behind it and dealing 24 damage.
The shadowy chain solidifies and the ghoul lashes you with it again, dealing 13 damage.

You hammer the ghoul unrelentingly, dealing 19 damage

You take a great leap and tumble to avoid incoming attacks.
The ghoul loops chain around you, creating a vicious trap dealing 24 damage, but you leap nimbly out of the way, avoiding all but 16 damage.

The ghoul tries to wrap his hooked chain around you, but you slip its grasp.

The ghoul bears down on his chain, causing the hooks to bite into you for 21 damage.

I didn't find this guy at all the first time I went through the quest. This time, I found one on my third turn in the charnel house (first two turns consisted of fighting a single ghoul and then failing to run away from a pack of three). So there must me some unlock but I'm not sure what.

I bound the ghoul king this time instead of fighting him, could be one difference. Also maybe got a different result from disturbing canvases? Don't remember.

So I'm guessing evasion techniques just make you fall into the "trap" and get dealt extra damage. And perhaps lessen the effectiveness of the evasion as well.

Hm, yes it does look like there's a big +damage vs. evasion techniques, and no damage avoided.

Well, raziel's leaping dodge aboided 8 damage, but that's very low for a base 6 defense technique. So both +damage and -defense, but not an automatic canceling of the defense.

My ghouls will only drop hooked chains, never pitted. Any ideas on how to change this? :/

Ideas: etheric power?
etheric?
broken world?
broken enough walls?
lured the guard as a bait?
used any acidic technique?
equipped sketchbook?
tome of binding?
fought any skulls yet?
did you "steal the chain" in the first charnel house? (slab of rotting meat)
what did you do to the ghoul king? actually, I can check myself: you have ghoultouched. Maybe you had to bind him?

fae sided/ocean sided?

Or maybe it's an *until* condition … maybe you have done something that day that *locks* it until rollover.

Thanks, I'm too tired to come up with ideas myself at the moment ;)

…obviously, because I didn't even try etheric. Which seems to work, unless luring the guard did something.

'Cause, you know, how often does taking Eclipse have any effect in this game? ;)
