If you click on your name on the left side of the screen, it takes you to your character sheet. There, you should see the second line is:
You do not belong to a gang.
Click 'gang' and it will take you to a page where you can either search for a gang or start your own gang for 250 cred.
(There are many gangs to choose from, but you're welcome to join the gang I'm in, Hounds of Hameln. Alternatively, you might want to hang out in chat for a while and see who you get along with.)
