When you ask Carlos for some Eclipse after you take out the fangs, one of the follow up questions is to ask him what he’s going to do next. His response is:

“Me? I've got a pretty good nest egg from the Eclipse days, so I think I'm heading back into Z. Once I find a supplier, I'll hook you up with a sample.”

Is this student blabbering about the same “Z” as Carlos?? I can only assume Z is another drug, so is that what this kid is looking for? And why the heck does he give you a Castor capsule? Have I just not found the answer to this conundrum yet or should it be added to the list of Metroplexity Mysteries?

Huh, good spot, I had forgotten there was another mention of "Z" outside this encounter. Don't know anything else about it, and the Castor does seem strange. Could be he just notices you're tripping (since this is etheric-only) and… wants you to get sober despite his own addled state?

Maybe Z is a drug that makes you an anti-drug crusader. :P

(There's mention of another drug not known to be obtainable by players - Bounce. I think it's purple.)

Okay, so now that I realize that Castor can remove the Etheric affect when you take it, the fact that this is an etheric only encounter makes sense to me. Perhaps this encounter is Kinak’s way of subtly pointing out the usefulness of a Castor capsule. However, the significance of “Z” still doesn’t make any sense to me.

I think I may be reading too far into this encounter. :p

I just got a varient:

A student wandering across the Quad walks up to you. He moves jerkily, as though he's dancing to music you can't hear.

"You don't look so good," he states blandly. "You okay?"

He ignores your response, dropping a brown pill into your hands, and wanders off.

It's quite possibly because I was not at full HP

After a brief philosophical inquiry into wiki ontology (What, exactly, constitutes as an "encounter"? How are these "encounters" individuated? How much does text have to vary to constitute an entirely different "encounter" rather than a variant version of a single one?) I decided not to worry about it and just went ahead and added links from one page to the other to head off this confusion in the future.

Vague evidence that you get the dancing music extravaganza if you have Slags Poisoning. I got it at full health. EDIT: got this also with just Sugar Rush (9), Ocean Sight (10), at full health. Out of ideas there.

EDIT again: And Crypto says that the dancing music encounter may have just replaced this one? Check podcast history.
