All right, there's gotta be some way of getting a technique from the owl's mask and jagged hawk talon. Although I'm certain some people have already tried. Brainstorming, anyone?

I'm starting to think the special "terrible energies" message comes when this technique follows another etheric attack.

While the additional messages likely address the cascading referenced in the skill description it is at best only a part of Kinak's hint about "cascade" in reference to the avatar. It seems plausible both Hawk's Talon and Owl's Mask could also have variants.

Just had a wild idea- what if someone got ALL cascade messages in the same combat or same few fights? Sure it'd be a bitch, but it's not much harder than the rest of the feathered cloak content.

I've tried a cascade using all the attack types with 3 stealth, 4 melee, 5 ranged, 6 fire, and finally 7 raven's eye, but it didn't seem to have any effect. Has anyone else tried hybird cascades? They seems more like what the cloak is all about with the whole feather chains thing.

I assume someone tried this already, but hey: nothing new for a Hawk's Talon - Cloak of Feathers - Owl's Mask - Raven's Eyes chain. Also you can't cascade with "untyped" attacks (unfueled Channel Inspiration - etheric Trash Simulacrum - Raven's Eyes).
