Is there a different effect when listening to the recording under the influence of eclipse? Given that the recording isn't accepted in the Slags lab as is, something else must need to be done with it.

All of my previous data was gathered while etheric. I just did it without, though, to no difference.

I wonder if listening the recording unlocks any new conversation options if you then go back and talk to him. Maybe he'd tell you how to "just ask" to talk to the phenomena somehow or other.
