I couldn't swipe an ID, but I could break open the card reader with an electrical kit equipped. It's kind of strange that having the break open option keeps you from trying to swipe an ID. Could it be a bug?

I tried battering the door with a battered hammer, but got the result we have listed for the Hammer's sledge. Maybe the difference is stats? Melee power? I'm at 24/14/25/28, with 6 melee power. Since the hammer is +4 and the sledge is +5, maybe the cutoff point is at +5 melee power.
Same message for guessing a wrong passcode while etheric even if you have spider venom. I think this might be near the only way to fight a Horrific Spider with Spider Venom active to start the fight (aside from maybe Stone's finale).

With empowered strength (9 (28)), bashing the door with the sledge did not work.
