Well it seems that there are at least 3 ways for this quest to go: Fae, Shrooms, and Fishmen

Soemone should test the sewer dwellers, too. With the navigator, shaman, zombies, and hounds bein less likely possibilities.

Damn, this quest has so many variants that when trying to edit the outline I wished very hard that I could put text into variables, and then write the whole thing in algorithmic form…

You did very well - that's much cleaner. I forgot about the Ghoul King!

Kinak is kind of crazy to do all this.

Okay, rewrote some stuff about how to help the fish with fae sight. However, I'm not sure if it's possible to access the lake directly with fae sight, or if you have to go through the mushroom cavern and the pool first. If it's the latter, some stuff will have to be rewritten in that section.

huh – do you think getting Servant of the Mask is yet another alternate route in this quest? You get a pretty clear picture of how the ghost ship is created.

Well, while doing David's quest I got servent of the mask, then went on to read the book of sailing stories, but nowhere in the conversation options with the shaman, larry, or david have I seen anything new, and the quest log hasn't changed so I don't think it is.

Is it possible to get an answer from each of the sources in one run? Get the answer from the Ancient Shroom, kill him, get the answer from the Fae King, trap him, get the answer from the Ocean King, kill him, get the answer from the royal orb, get the answer from the Ghoul King. It would be alot of work and planning, but it seems plausable and could be interesting.
