Someone test what happens when you have it sit around in your inventory for a while.

Tested on First Floor and didn't get anything after 20 turns there.

EDIT: about three or four days later, these finally showed up on the docks. It's likely that there's only a set number of locations that work, and the death averted won't show up until you visit one of them.

What about if you rest a ton after using them, so they come back and throttle you in your sleep? >:D
