Glimmering Crystal Solitaire / Discussion

I am guessing that a glimmering crystal piece and a glimmering crystal fragment combine to make the next item that combines with this, but at the moment although the recipe for using ten glimmering crystal chips says it gives a fragment, it actually gives a piece, so I can't test that just yet.
