Some data on when he shows up:

(ate food to regain 67 more energy)

So, 19, 15, 30, 14 turns.

Also, losing the fight against the Ragged Bum take one energy for the record. Not sure about winning.

Thoughts for further interactions, now that we know Channeling Matsuo triggers new content:

-Fighting Ragged Bum with Channeling Matsuo (obviously)
-Something to do with the feathered cloak? Zack mentions: "So when there's nothing left but rags and ravens, they throw a party because he's finally dead." Maybe fighting the rag enemies with the raven-themed feather/eyes/etheric technique?
-Barton26's idea: More Rag Man's cape interactions with enemies on the Matsuo TV show, with or without channeling matsuo? Ooze beast (living sludge) The Zombie Lord (Ghoul King/Masked Shaman), Cackling Skull (Skull in the Flames), Stone Beast (Black Stone Beast), etc.
-Fighting Rag Man with replica katana or shark hide baton (since Matsuo's supposed to have a shark hide hilt)?

Tried killing living Sludge and Black Stone Beast with dark wind and Channeling Matsuo active, and replica sword, rag man's cape and genuine raven feather equipped. Nothing.

It depends on what you mean by use. Just last week I fought both the Rag Man and his ultimate form with a tome equipped, and that I used Hounds against him at least once in each battle. No special interactions were noted.

I wouldn't necessarily worry about things from the cape direction. If you happen to discover old content that sounds like it would interact with this, give it a go.

There are various podcast hints about the the rag mans's cape interacts with something that hadn't been found yet. I would very strongly bet that it has something to do with Demonslaying Blade and/or Demon Slayer skill. To the investigatemobile!

Defeating either version of the Rag Man with Channeling Matsuo active, a replica sword equipped, and using Demonslaying Blade in combat didn't give anything special.
