tested with everything besides achromatic ingot, cured shark hide, shining mirror shard

Dive for Cover, Shield Block, Striking Shield and Sudden Bash all work as expected for both shields. Didn't find anything unusual for those techniques when dual-wielding manholes or wielding the manhole weapon without an offhand.

The shield gives a hidden +2 Melee Defense bonus with no offhand, but agreed with Vholes' spading, still doesn't count as a shield.

Well I tested it with the cured shark hide and shining mirror shards so I think we've found all the craftabales. And how does one find a bonus for not having an offhand? That just seems so obscure, unnoticable and unlikely to occur, are there other items that work that way?

The Outfit Spading spading page has list of hidden stuff - the steel length and polysteel support work the same way. (Half the Melee Power applied to Melee Defense)

For what it's worth, as soon as I saw the manhole cover item, I was 90% sure it would have a hidden bonus, even before trying it. Just gotta get into Kinak's head. :)

(I've also been using the GM script I posted on the Outfit spading discussion to track bonuses automatically.)
