I get the sense you need a Myers sampling kit equipped to get the twisted firework as a drop. I was getting all legal fireworks until I equipped one, then I started getting the twisted kind. I didn't do very many tries without the kit, though. I used up too much Body buffing to fight the Intertwined Serpents to allow for a statistically significant sample size. :/

EDIT: May have jumped the gun on this one. I'm getting the legal ones even with a kit equipped.

I can confirm Breath Fire is a fire damage type tech. Got energy of Fireproof Coat opposing it.

You dive and tumble, your coat billowing.
The serpent breathes fire on you, dealing 6 damage, but you catch the worst of the attack in your billowing coat, avoiding all of the damage.

Here's a log from a Fireworks serpent from using a single twisted firework. Barton26 was getting odd values for etheric defense, so it might have different stats than the normal encounter.

Is that more than 20 HP fight from using a twisted firework or regular combat?

This is, of course, the regular fight. If it was the intertwined serpent, I would have made a post in the intertwined serpent page.

I've even added more combat logs to narrow it down even further.

If you use a single twisted firework, it unlocks a combat with an opponent that is named "fireworks serpent" but has increased stats (apparently) than the regular fireworks serpent. (See twisted firework page). So not quite "of course". :)
