Making a paper mask with this effect active does nothing special.

Since you only get 1 energy of this effect, it seems like there's something you should do while it's active to create a nightmare artwork. Decorating a paper mask isn't it, though.

EDIT: Also nothing for making one while Etheric. Or using an abstract sketch. Or making a paper mask with Artist's Perspective. Also nothing for making a fake skull mask. And now the effect is gone.

nothing nightmarish at 4,7,8,9,100,500,999 paper mache. Edit: Al tested 666.

Just got this:

A flash of inspiration strikes!

You blank out for a moment, then find yourself with a terrifying doll head that seems to include some of your ghoul teeth. That's… kind of terrifying.

You create: twisted doll head

You've learned a new simple recipe: Twisted Doll Head - Imbed Ghoul Teeth in some Paper Mache

Not quite sure how this didn't come up before, I know I tried 1 paper mache. And now I can't seem to get this a second time, even with the exact same setup:

Hat: devil mask
Weapon: battered hammer

Crypto tried with etheric and devil mask with no luck, but did get the different result below.

Takes one set of ghoul teeth, but doesn't look like it's actually from Nightmarish Artistry. I got it to unlock with a different message while wearing a ghoulish crown and a ghoul maw, while etheric. Didn't work the second time I tried it, though.

You glom the paper mache into a ball, stare at it for a while, then poke eyeholes into it. Tada! A face!

And if you add some ghoul teeth, it's you!

I got Al's result as well. Was not etheric. Did not have any techs of Rasping Teeth. I did have Call to Feast, however, and had all other nightmarish artistry crafting recipes. Successfully defeated the Hollow Monstrosity etc. etc.

I sincerely doubt the "Flash of inspiration!" result has anything to do with your equipment. Effects, besides the obvious Nightmarish Artistry, similarly do not seem to matter.

Al, what skills did you have when you got your result. Also did you create any of the other nightmarish items during your current reset? Defeated the Hollow Monstrosity perhaps?

I don't think it's a sure thing that nightmarish artistry is actually required for the twisted doll head. All the other recipes actually consume an energy of it/require having a paint set in your inventory.

No idea on skills. Path of Peace and Pyro/Leaping Flames maybe? But not very sure on that. If I did create any other nightmarish items/fight pinatas, it was several weeks prior… can't remember if there was a reset in between there though. When I found the Twisted Doll Head, I got it on my very first try that time.

Did either or both of you have a charge of orange juice active? The "flash of inspiration" message makes me think it might be from that.

That's a good point, Cryptodynamic. But, I'm inclined to think the twisted doll head is part of the Glittering/Nightmarish Artistry block of content judging by Item IDs. If it isn't actually a part of all that, then we are still missing one crafting recipe from the Nightmarish/Glittering Artistry block of content. And I'm not sure where that would fit in from Items By ID. Maybe a crafting recipe resulting in more Nightmare Fuel?

And I haven't had orange juice in a long while, Mag.
