This one might be worth checking for a PvP debuff effect.

I played around with this as much as I could today. Looks like the technique works fine even if you are not Etheric and don't have the designer vines equipped, although it fails vs. evasion. I did not notice at first that I was getting a different message without Set Roots, so I'm not 100% certain whether that version consumes energy of Etheric or not. Seems weird that it would when it doesn't seem to require the effect to function.

The other thing I wasn't able to check is whether the version when you do have Set Roots active also fails vs. evasion.
