The dream encounters do not seem to be taking Energy for me, but they do take one energy of Ocean Sight. I also got a dream the very first turn after I took some liquified Eclipse, used the skillbook, and adventured. I did have slightly increased chance of Etheric encounters, so it's possible the dreams respond to that.

Ah, that could explain where my confusion came in. I thought at first that it didn't take any energy, but then later I saw my remaining etheric energy going down. I also got a dream on my first turn, and then it seems to be about every 12-20 energy spent after that.

With Butterfly Dream active and the charred wooden souvenir equipped I am getting +8 reflexes and +4 fire defense. If someone could check the cyberarm and beetle for similar changes that would be awesome.

If you look at the skill in your charpane with Slags Poisoning active, you get the Etheric message, but I'm pretty sure you can't get any dreams with just Slags Poisoning active. I spent at least 25 energy today with the skill toggled on and the effect active and got no dream encounters. After it completely wore off, I took one Eclipse and got a dream (my first of the day) the very first encounter after that.

Having cyberware installed is not required to get the failed cyberarm. I've gotten one this reset and I haven't even unlocked the cyberware lab.

My mistake. I used this skill for weeks and didn't get a failed cyberarm, then got one very soon after installing cyberware. But after looking at my inventory I realize I had assumed sufficient sample size from the usable items & didn't realize the offhands were rarer, so it was just a coincidence.

Offhands: 2 carnivorous beetles, 1 shattered sidearm, 2 carnivorous beetles, 1 failed cyberarm
Usable items: 7 spare teeth, 8 F papers, 7 delicate butterflies, 7 gunshot cloths
