The guard circles you for a moment, then moves swiftly to defend your target, stabbing you for 10 damage.

The green light in your hand unfolds into lashing tendrils of energy that deal 20 damage to the guard.
The guard slams into you and deals 4 damage before you can fend off the attack.

The thing that was throwing me off was just a bug. It works as I thought it did, before getting thrown off by the bug.
