So, how about for next Halloween, instead of donating credits we donate Oldos code?!?! I think that's pretty keen, myself. A kind of fundraiser I would actually be #1 in, for once, seeing how my ceaseless, unending hacking for the mythical data scrubber has given me a king's bounty of soon-to-be incompatible software.
I wouldn't expect that for Halloween, barring a bizarre plot twist, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see something oddly similar to that showing up.
The Novos stuff is already a lot more fun to play with than the old system.
Good to hear :)
At one point way back in podcast #3, you had mentioned the possibility of a "display case"-type thing that could hold our prized collectables. If this is still on the table, that might help with some of the inventory clutter. (I'm also getting a lot of non-data stuff from holidays and such building up that I feel compelled to keep but that's my own darn fault) Though I realize that coding those types of interfaces is probably the most boring thing to code and has big duplication bug potential.
It's half the boring and bugs duo stopping it and half that it was waiting for certain content to go in. Now that the content's in, it's more just boring and bugs. So, closer :)
I still wouldn't expect that soon.
Proactive NPCs - the fact that Mikhail messages us through the same interface that other players do has always been one of my favourite features here. Makes it really seem like a "world". Proactive NPCs sending you more messages every so often would be very cool indeed.
As I said in the podcast, I really like these too. Actually… hmmm… well, some ideas kicking around, if nothing else.
In response to arkaims fundraising idea: I don't think that will really at getting rid of all the code. I know I, and probably other people, would hold on to some just for the sake of having things that no longer can be obtained.
Yeah, it's not a bad idea as far as giving a cool last hurrah for Oldos, but all the problems with keeping tons of old items around are equal if someone keeps one or ten thousand. And people will keep one, that's just the nature of the beast. I'm not even a collector and I'll always keep one.
For the map, I like everything being sort of disjointed.
At least on the Metros side of things, it'd be more of a subway map anyway and those are… notoriously not-to-scale. At least every one I've ever seen.
But, at some point there might be need for more of a city map. I'd prefer to avoid that if I can, though, mostly because it'd be hard to make usable.
Cheers!
