1 Offence + 1 or 2 command seems to always give 1 link
1 Offence + 3 command mostly gives 2 links (perhaps CF dependant?)
1 Offence + 8 command still only gave 2 links the one time I tried it.
Podcast 40 sprinkles:
No good reason to crash it. If it's difficult to crash for you, that's probably because you have a super secret ability and the game assumes you're using that skill to avoid crashing it.
(Link to super secret ability is my own interpretation.)
In the beginning, men were mortal.
Cross reference from Roi's discussion:
Cryptodynamic:
xliv and I independently asked Kinak about this yesterday, and Crosslinks have been updated so that having lots of code finesse won't wind up making them nearly impossible to destroy.
Kinak:
Yeah, that should be good now.
Thanks to everyone for having enough faith in me to assume there's a better way around it, but I think the new code now does a pretty good job telling if you're just trying to blow it all up and helping you along. Sorry for not seeing that interaction coming.
Any attack with exactly 2 seems to crack the filters, 3 or more crashes through now.
I remember being still slightly annoyed by this but I didn't document it so I don't remember exactly why. I think sometimes, even if your batch as 3 offense to it, it sometimes doesn't crash the crosslinks. Like sometimes if you use staring blade. Or another single offense function augmented by staring blade. I think the "does a pretty good job of telling if you're just trying to blow it all up" part means that the code looks at if you used more than one offense tool against the crosslinks.
Which, in effect, based on the more widely accessible tools we have, makes it look like 3 or more looks like a guaranteed crash when it is slightly more nuanced than that. Maybe.
For reference, I thing the diagnostic I suggested was "if you already killed some routines, you are probably trying to kill them all".
(it's also possible that having relay search does something here, since the entire purpose of having it is to kill some sites)
Most, maybe all of this data comes from recent relay hacking — I probably did crash some other routines for most of it. I have a vague memory of 3 Attack not crashing it but could not find it in the logs— will keep an eye out.
