Hmm (but it's all with 8 code finesse):
You queue up a batch for Secured Entrance containing Brute Strike, Basic Filter, and Security Update.
You focus your attack on one point, breaking through the Guardian's defenses.
That's at least 2 offense, so the brute strike improved the security update despite the intervening basic filter.
You queue up a batch for Handcoded Eye containing Basic Filter, Brute Strike, and Security Update.
You crash the eye while it reports your attack.
Also 2 offense, so the seuciry update was improved by the brute strike even when it had chance to be improved by the basic filter.
Conclusion: one of
1) my CF somehow made it so that 1 offense was enough for these results
2) security update prefers to be improved by offense (and ignores defensive functions when in presence of offensive functions)
3) it got improved by both offense and defense at the same time
