1)
They are used in programs derived from the Midgard Player.
Uh … what? Doesn't fractal code come from the red-lensed goggles?
2) I am not sure if this is mentioned anywhere, and the functions' pages are a bit ambiguous … [see example round below]
In a chain with 2 fractal functions, F1 and F2 …
… the message is "F2 bolsters F1"? [yes]
… F2 is overwritten by F1 (like it was a basic function), or has the F1 functionality added? [overwritten]
… the new F2 has unchanged unsubtle (1, except fractal shield which has 0), 0 unsubtle, or the same unsubtle as F1? [I don't know]
3) this probably follows from known mechanics, but it might be better mentioned explicitly: in a F1 F2 BASIC chain, BASIC will be overwritten by F1 and not F2 (unless it already had same type as F1, in which case F1 doesn't do anything to it, and F2 was already overwritten by F1, so nothing happens to BASIC)
You queue up a batch for Secured Entrance containing Fractal Command, Fractal Assault, and Direct Command.
Fractal Assault seamlessly bolsters Fractal Command.
The entrance remains passive.
The system's watching eyes hone in on your disturbance.
The system's automated defenses follow your tracks, increasing the Alert by 5.
No offense in that chain …
+1 unsubtle from the eyes, nothing from the entrance, 1 from fractal command, 1 from direct command
5 alert means unsubtle between 3 and 5 inclusive - inconclusive (can't tell if fractal command is 0, 1, or 2 unsubtle)
