I'm still failing the second message despite having (and discovering) the skill Drone Anatomy. Could it be related to Drone Studies instead?

I think it's probably related to having seen the pattern in drone memories.

Can confirm it is having seen the pattern in the memories and not the skill.

Also should be noted you can get the third result more then one time, and it will still take energy.
