Mag tried Emerald Gift and tome of binding active with the EG test, with nothing special result. (I also tried Second hand gift).
I tried closing the blast doors but not sure if that helped any.

Other random ideas- dual laser equipped?

I feel like we're still missing something but perhaps this is just a big nudge towards more etheric science tendrils… it does shed some light on hounds and EG and dorms explosions and stuff like that. I guess if nothing else it might do something special on halloween when there is a big group of tripping students nearby…

So we've got controls working, do we need to keep adding lasers? Edit: answered my own question, got to a point where I can't add more lasers.

Also, result for trying the controls when not etheric:

The controls are definitely cobbled together, although they're in generally working order.

As far as you can tell, there are a number of dials to set frequencies, a switch below each dial with an indicator light, and a huge switch to start the whole thing up. Well, only one thing to do.

You choose some settings that sound interesting and flip the huge switch. You notice you have to put your back into it, as though it's counterweighted to swing back.

The trivia that switches set up like that are called "dead men's switches" seems suddenly very important as pale flame washes over you, gnawing at the edges of your perception.

I have been out of town for most of this; back now. My understanding of recent events:

• The gamma test revives/resummons all these hounds (and even reconstructs the drone shells), and closes the emergency blast doors. I just opened the doors again and Arkaim has been killing hounds. (How long did that take last time, while I was away?) Pray that the test didn't also break the machine's laser system again.
• As usual, the irony in the Hounds of Hameln name shows up as the most Heraldic gang fights its way through hounds trying to stop Faction Emerald. (Not to mention the the debate every year between Hounds trying to sabotage anything Midgard and Hounds trying to take over their Emerald experiments.) The Emerald endgoal is "hemmed in by dark shapes of crystal"; perhaps by killing enough of these hounds blocking the music we can finally move that plotline forward. Unfortunately, having just shown up and without Quantum Mechanics or the drone signature, I can't assist in the music playing even if I reach the basement.
• Arkaim wants the punks to reach the basement in order to be transformed into an etheric faction a la Omega Werewolves. I think punks just like smashing machinery and don't see why they would trigger anything. (Where's the hipster faction when they finally could do something cool?) Still, I might help clear the way just because right now we seem to be back at square 1 and I would rather at least something happened.
• All I really want to do is see if 571 ineracts with killing a Burning specter
