There doesn't appear to be any change in using this technique with cyberware wings installed. Tried it with dark wings.

Regarding the "shimmering glass" message: Using it on the Waterfront always gave me the "stained glass" result unless I fought the Third Eye Ganger through the Third Eye Shakedown encounter, where I got the shimmering glass message.

Fighting the Third Eye Gangers in the construction site gave the "stained glass" result, so it's not just the opponent that triggers it. Choosing "Rush to kill" in Third Eye Shakedown, which triggers the Freezing Coin effect, also gives the "stained glass" result regardless of what opponent you use it on.
