So, I beat The Painted Sky again, this time after offering a feather and peat. Same results, but there was one difference during the fight itself:

The sky plucks a red star from its sky, sending the guttering flame crashing down on you for 19 damage.

With flower+lace, I got a blue star this time:

The sky plucks a blue star from its sky, sending the impossibly hot flame crashing down on you for 36 damage.

I was hoping opposing the technique where the sky rearranges its stars with Starry Gaze would unlock something interesting, sort of like how using Open Parasol at the right time vs the Painted Woman unlocks something. No apparent luck, though, at least if you don't win the fight:

Also, I have yet to get anything from but a fight from offering a flower + peat even with all my passive chance of noncombat encounters or chance of choice encounters gear on.

Got a purple star attack this time, from peat+flower. I wonder if there are 6 colours?

So far:
Al: flower+peat= purple
Al: flower+lace = blue
Crypto: feather+peat = red

EDIT: and now, feather+lace = purple. :(

In case you have to win with all combos, so far I've won with:
Feather+Lace
Flower+Peat

Nothing special for winning with Myers sampler or ToB.

Protip: It's really hard to get enough Fire Defense to survive its attacks. Reactive Defense works a lot better than Fire Defense.
